Winter Term

Traditional Tales

We love stories and seeing how the children engage with the setting and characters. Our current focus is on teaching the children three traditional tales including 'The Gingerbread Man', 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears' and 'The Three Little Pigs'. We have already completed some exciting activities, including decorating gingerbread men, using cutters and paints to make our own gingerbread crafts and mixing oats with other ingredients.

We look forward to teaching the children all about transport. This topic is perfect for looking at shapes, helping children to identify basic 2D shapes and patterns.

Autumn Term 2019

During our Autumn term half term we loved observing the change in seasons. We have examined colourful leaves and Autumnal objects, creating colourful crafts inspired by Autumn colours.

Remember, Remember the 5th of November

The children loved learning about bonfire night! We created sparkling bonfire and firework pictures using paints and glitter. We discussed fire safety, and what to wear to keep warm and safe at a Bonfire display.

3, 2, 1 Blast Off!

Children’s interest in space and planets inspired some out of this world play! We created a small world area complete with rockets, moon buggies and costumes. Children developed fine motor skills and enjoyed colour matching stars using tweezers to find stars amongst ‘moon stones’. Black, glittery playdough and star cutters made a welcome addition to our fine motor table.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

We have lots of exciting crafts and activities planned for this term, including Christmas Calendar crafts, Christmas cards, Santa’s workshop role play, decorating the Christmas tree, crackers, angel cups and lots more!
